Waiting for Spring... A 5 on Friday Report.

Is it me or do I have spring fever.  I've been venturing outdoors and looking for any sign of warmer weather.  Technically it's a little over a  month into the Winter season.  But I want it green again!
So I scoured my yard and this is what I found...

The Maple Tree getting ready to set its buds...

Daffodils pushing thru the soil...

Snapdragons surviving the Winter...

Purple Daisies transplanted from #Michigan...

Pansies in full bloom that fills me with hope...

Spring is on it's way!

Crochet along with me...2015!

This year I will be participating in my first CAL. I have oodles of yarn that need to be made in to something special. A dear friend suggested trying the +Moogly 2015 Crochet along. I'm up for new challenges so what the heck lets give this a try.  There's 24 -12 inch blocks patterns.  The patterns will be released every other week.
The first weeks square which was released on Jan 8th is called Tamera's Kismet Square designed by
Jessie Rayot of Jessie at Home.  The link to the pattern plus a tutorial and printing instructions can be found at  http://jessieathome.com/2014/12/tamaras-kismet-square.html

Here is my 1st completed square.

This square was definitely challenging it's not for the novice crocheter.  It took me several days to finish it.  There was allot of tearing out stiches and starting over. I'm glad that I stuck with it.  It's pretty and has a nice texture.  I will be making another square in a different colors. Plus I plan on making some squares in baby yarn.  If you want more information on the Crochet along you can visit http://www.mooglyblog.com/2015-moogly-afghan-crochet-along/.  There is also a Facebook and Ravelry Group.  There links are https://www.facebook.com/groups/831173793588676/?fref=tsc
and http://www.ravelry.com/groups/moogly-cal-2015. I'm looking forward to what is going to be coming next.

In addition to this crochet along. I joined one for crochet doilies . It's my next project. Information and my finished  doilies will be coming soon.

So what is your New Years Challenge?  Leave a comment and let me know.

To new experiences!

Living on less

One of my first challenges   this year is we have less money to go around. The reality is our income is down about  two thirds.  I'm not complaining there are people all over this World that  have less than I do. I'm the CEO of this family. It's my job to make our money work for us.
An areas I can trim is our food budget. I will clip coupons, watch for sales and make more economical meals.  The cookbook I will primarily be using is More with Less Cookbook by
Doris Janzen Longacre. It's available at +Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/Cookbook-Suggestions-Mennonites-Consume-Resources/dp/B000LDFFNS/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1420929070&sr=1-2&keywords=more+for+less+cookbook

Written in the 70's it has easy, simple and delicious recipes. I like how you can adapt them to your families preferences.. The book also features ways to cut down on waste. An area in which I struggle. Each week I'm throwing away produce or items that went past there due date. That's money down the drain. So I challenge myself to do better.  I look forward to sharing some of my creations with you!

Since it only me and my husband I often have to halve recipes. I use a dry measurement conversions My source a refrigerator magnet that I had for years. It pretty worn but it sure comes in handy!
I made up a card that you can save to your computer. Just right click on the picture and select save picture.

I hope you find it useful. Please join me on my adventure of Living on Less.
This is Life as I know it!

Happy New Year.

Wow it hard to believe a whole year has passed. It seems as I get older the time goes by much faster.
It's been a more than a year since I wrote anything in this blog.
I thought of deleting it or maybe letting it keep taking up space.
It's something I've been doing that is.... taking up space.
Seem harsh especially on a day of new beginnings.
Everyone is happy and hopeful.
I just have to work harder at it.
This last year has been one of self discovery and healing...
My journey is not over...
I look forward to what I will learn on my trip thru what is commonly called life...

So on this 1st day of the new year. I resolve to...
Be kind to me...
Laugh at least once a day...
Say at least (perhaps more) one kind word to my husband...
Play more
Pray even more
Complete what I started...
Don't beat myself up if I don't...
Let go of all the pain and ugliness of this World...
Don't take it to heart...
Be positive, happy, and healthy.
Write at lease one post to this blog a week, even if its one word...

I also resolve too...

Yea its a long list but I think it is very doable...and
That my friends is life as I know it...
God Bless You!
